Ford Ecosport recalled in India. Ford India has recalled around 16,444 units of its compact SUV Ecosport, which are manufactured between November-2013 and April-2014 in Chennai plant due to an issue with Rear Twist Beam bolt.
The company stated that the Rear twist Beam bolt was not tightened up to the specifications, which will cause the pivot bolt to break. This will effect the handling of vehicle which in-term results in high risk of an accident.
“Ford India is contacting select customers to voluntarily inspect their Ecosport vehicles. The vehicles which are made at the company’s Chennai plant between November 2013 and April 2014 have been recalled. It is for a potential concern related to Rear Twist Beam (RTB) bolt.In some of the affected vehicles, there is a possibility that the RTB bolt may not be tightened to specification, which may cause the pivot bolt to break. This condition can potentially compromise vehicle handling and thereby increase the risk of an accident,” the company said in a media statement.
Ford is recalling these vehicles by contacting the select customers and asking them to voluntarily inspect their vehicles.
Currently they have not recorded any accident cases due to this rear twist beam bolt issue.
The selected customers can get their vehicle inspected at a local Ford dealer and all the necessary work will be done with free of cost.
In these days so many major OEM’s like Volkswagen, Honda, Maruti, Hyundai, Chevrolet etc are recalling their models to rectify their manufacturing issues.
This is the third time that Ford is recalling its models in India and they are as follows:
- Ford recalled 1.66 lakh units of Figo & Fiesta classic in september 2013 due to faulty rear suspension and power steering hose
- Ford again recalled 20,305 units of Ecosport voluntarily to rectify issues related to fuel and vapour line
These days manufacturers are recalling the vehicles even before any mishaps happen which is considered as a good move in the industry
