Mahindra XUV100 which is coded as S101 is expected to launch in the early 2016 may be in the month of January. Earlier the Mahindra XUV100 is expected to launch in the end of this year. But due to overwhelming response the company received for its recently launched TUV3oo the launch of Mahindra XUV100 launch is being postponed. Recently launched TUV3oo is selling in good numbers at around 4,500 units dominating the Ford Ecosport in the under 4m SUV segment. Both the cars TUV3oo and XUV100 are planned to manufacture at the Chakan facility, so the company pushed back the launch of XUV100 to meet the existing demand for TUV3oo.
Mahindra XUV100 is the mini SUV which will be smallest of all the Mahindra SUVs. It will be the sixth SUV in the Mahindra’s current lineup of SUVs. One of the interesting fact is that it will be the only Mahindra SUV to be built on Monocoque platform unlike others which are built over ladder-on-frame chassis. The company will be using two new engines for the Mahindra XUV100 which will be the 1.2L Petrol and Diesel engines. There will be two transmission options which will be comprise of 5-speed Manual transmission and AMT. We are expecting that the Mahindra XUV100 will be standing in within the price range of crossover hatchback segments (Hyundai i20 Active, Fiat Avventura, VW Cross Polo etc).

It is reported that Mahindra took several inputs from Ssangyong team for developing this SUV. After the launch of Mahindra XUV100 if you enter a Mahindra dealership you will find six dazzling SUVs infront of you to choose from. The Automobile market is in the verge of launching new SUVs which clearly shows the customer preference for SUV body types these days. We think the perfect competition for this Mahindra XUV100 will be the Maruti Ignis which is also expected to hit the Indian markets next year. However, it is interesting to see how these mini SUVs will be perceived by Indian customers.
