There is a good news coming up for the XUV500 intenders. Tomorrow (i.e November 25th) there might be the launch of Mahindra XUV500 AT. There is an announcement by Mahindra calling for press conference on November 25th 2015. Mahindra told that the conference is regarding the discussion about XUV500 development.
We are expecting that this conference could open the doors for the launch of Mahindra XUV500 AT variant. Mahindra is surely feeling the heat from the recently launched Creta which might pulled them out of their comfort zone to have this conference.
It is expected that Mahindra could launch Automatic for W8 variant instead of Top spec W10 variant. Mahindra currently offers Automatic variants for Scorpio in 2WD and 4WD versions. Both versions are equipped with six speed unit sourced from Drivetrain Systems International (DSI) which is based in Australia.
Both Scorpio and XUV500 are powered by 2.2 litre mHawk diesel engine. Although the displacements are similar, the power and Torque figures of both the engines are different. Scorpio produces 120bhp and 280Nm of torque while XUV500 produces 140bhp and 330Nm of Torque. We have to see whether Mahindra will launch AT for 2WD or 4WD for XUV500. If Mahindra chooses AT for W8 AWD of XUV500, then Normal and Winter/Wet modes of Scorpio AWD AT are expected to get carry forward.
Expect the Mahindra XUV500 AT variant to stand at INR 50,000 – 70,000 higher than normal Manual variant. It is a good plan by Mahindra as they are giving AT for W8 instead of top spec W10. This keeps the cost lower and people also can find the AT variant at more affordable price. Whatever might be the speculation, we have to wait till tomorrow to hear the official announcement from the company about Mahindra XUV500 AT launch.
