The much awaited awards ceremony i.e ICOTY (Indian Car of the Year) for automobile enthusiasts was held in Delhi . Hyundai Creta was named as the Indian Car of the year 2016 . The Hyundai Creta emerged the winner by scoring 96 points, surpassing its competitor Maruti Suzuki Baleno, which scored 85 points. The Renault Kwid with 71 points was third, the Ford Figo Aspire got 36 points and the Honda Jazz 32 points. With this win, Hyundai continued its three years winning streak starting with Hyundai Grand i10 and Hyundai elite i20 for the years 2014 and 2015 respectively.
The ICOTY is the most credible and coveted award, and almost like the ‘Oscar’ of Indian car awards. It all started back in 2005, when senior and eminent journalists from all the leading automobile magazines in India got together to create and confer the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) award. The eligible cars are judged on various parameters such as price, fuel efficiency, styling, comfort, safety, features, performance, practicality, technical innovation, value for money and above all suitability for Indian consumers and driving conditions.
