Tata has recently showcased its much awaited Tata Zica which is codenamed as Kite. After the reveal of Tata Zica, we got to know that Tata Zica has more to offer at competitive price tag. It would be priced at a starting price of 3.5lakhs which would be primarily competing against WagonR and Celerio.
Tata seems to be hitting the right spot with Zica as they have bought several segment first features along with Zica. Now we see in detail what Tata Zica is being stuffed with.
Tata Zica is the name of the Kite hatchback. Zica is a Portuguese word which means Extension in english. Initially we thought that Zica would be the name for Kite sedan but strangely Tata has given it to the hatchback. Tata Zica is one of the budget hatchbacks from Tata which will be positioned below Bolt and Indica.
Technical Specifications of Zica:

Width – 1,647 mm
Height – 1,535 mm
Wheelbase – 2,400 mm
Ground clearance – 170mm
Tyre size – 175/65 R14

Tata Zica is based on Tata DesignNext design language which Tata earlier adopted for Zest and Bolt. It is designed from Tata design studios based in Pune, UK and Italy. However, this time they came up with really good design which will appeal everyone and offend none. Mass appeal is required for vehicles in the budget segments and seems like Tata had hit the right spot this time.
The front end gets vertically aligned honeycomb grille, a rounded front end, sharp looking headlamps and black inserts. Tata has given sharp lines on the sides of Zica. Rear looks similar to Hyundai grand i10 with those wrap around taillamps and it also come with rear spoiler. Parking sensors and rear wiper are also provided at the rear of Tata Zica.
Interiors and Features :
Tata Zica comes with Dual tone interiors and all new dashboard. It is a hexagonal layout similar to other recently launched models like Maruti S-Cross and TUV3oo. Steering wheel, HVAC buttons and audio system look familiar to other Tata vehicles.
Features like Rear split fold and lower spec Harman Infotainment system with 8 speakers (4 speakers and 4 Tweeters) are expected in the Tata Zica. Top spec is expected to be offered with ABS, EBD and dual airbags.
Tata has developed new engines 1.2-Litre petrol and 1.05-Litre diesel. Both are Tata’s in-house developed engines.
1.2-Litre Petrol engine – It is a three cylinder unit made of aluminium which makes it lighter in weight. The engine will produce 84bhp power and 11kgm of Torque. It is expected that this engine will be very much competitive in terms of FE figure.
1.05-Litre Diesel engine – This motor is developed from 1,405cc engine and is essentially a three cylinder version of it. The output is 67bhp of power and 14kgm of Torque
Tata Zica is expected to be launched even before the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.
