Tata has recently revealed the technical specifications of the Zica. But no where in the specifications, AMT is mentioned. According to report on Business Standard, Zica will receive AMT at a later stage.
Girish Wagh, senior Vice president, programme planning and management, Tata Motors said- “We will provide Zica with AMT when the model gets absorbed in the market and is ready for its next stage of growth”. He also mentioned that the AMT variants of the GenX Nano contribute more than 50% of Nano sales.
Even Zica’s competitor, Maruti Celerio is being offered with AMT. Infact, Celerio is the first model in India to get AMT. AMT version of Celerio contributes to 30-35% of overall Celerio sales. Tata will not want to miss out on the popularity of AMT in India.
Zica will be powered by all new engines- 1.2-Litre three cylinder Revetron engine and 1.05-Litre three cylinder diesel engine.Zica will launch in first week of January 2016 and a sedan version of it will soon follow with launch expected in first half of 2016.
