January 2016 has been a slow start for the auto industry in terms of sales. The passenger car sales have seen only a growth of 0.4% over the same month previous year. However, the sales of newly launched have helped major auto makers to witness positive growth. Here is a list of Top 10 best selling cars in India for the month of January 2016.

10. Hyundai Creta : (6,589 units)
Hyundai’s newly launched compact SUV, Creta is back into the top 10 selling cars list for the month of January 2016. Hyundai’s focus on exports in December 2015 has lead to the fall in sales of Creta. However, with production adjustment, Creta is back on track to become the only SUV to feature in the Top 10 list of best selling Cars in January 2016
9. Maruti Celerio: (7,141 units)
Maruti Celerio, which used to sell around 6,000 units earlier, is now selling on an average 7,000 units, thanks to the launch of diesel version. Earlier, Celerio used to sell mainly because of the Automatic Manual Transmission (AMT).
8. Maruti Baleno : (7,698 units)
Maruti’s premium hatchback, Baleno which was sold 10,572 units last month has managed 7,698 units in January. The fall in sales could be the production adjustment for the Exports. To mention, Baleno is the first ‘Made in India’ Maruti vehicle to be exported to European and Japan markets.
7. Honda City: (8,037 units)
The Mid high sedan segment leader in India, Honda City is back in to the Top 10 list after some time. City managed to sell 8,037 units in January 2016, which helped it to get into the Top 10 list of best selling cars for January 2016.
6. Hyundai Elite i20: (9,604 units)
Car of the Year 2015, Hyundai Elite i20 is constantly selling around 9,000~10,000 (combined with i20 Active) units every month. It is now a custom for i20 to feature in the list of Top 10 Selling cars every month.
5. Hyundai Grand i10: (9,934 units)
Hyundai’s another successful product, Grand i10 managed to sell around 9,934 units in January, fall in sales from last month’s 12,749 units. However, the December sales could be because of the high discounts offered on Grand i10.
4. Maruti Suzuki WagonR : (12,744 units)
The tall boy of Maruti in India, WagonR is a regular customer to the Top 10 selling cars list. However, its sales have seen a decline this month, which usually sells around 14,000 units every month.
3. Maruti Suzuki Swift : (14,057 units)
Maruti Swift usually sells around 17,000 units every month. Ever Since, Baleno was launched, Swift sales have seen a minor decline because of the cannibalization with Baleno. However, Swift managed to grab 3rd spot in the Top 10 list of best selling cars in India for January 2016.
2. Maruti Suzuki Dzire : (17,587 units)
Same as the Swift, Cannibalization with Baleno has resulted in fall in sales of Dzire, which usually sells around 20,000 units per month. However, the positive take away is that the Dzire tour is significantly seeing growth in the volumes.

Ever since Alto was launched, it is continuously dominating the sales charts, except for a few instances, where Dzire dominated.
